The EO4EP Project (Earth Observation for Eastern Partnership) has been officially kicked-off on 5-6 July 2016 in CBK PAN premises in Warsaw (Poland). Two day meeting gathered project partners and representative from ESA.
Over the last 6 years, ESA has intensified dialogue with the International Finance Institutions (IFIs) regarding the use of EO-based products / services in development projects planning, monitoring and implementation. Over 65 projects were delivered to date supporting projects by the World Bank Group (WBG), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
This EO4EP project forms a basis for establishment of regional collaboration in the Eastern European Region to explore the use of Earth Observation for flood management and agriculture focusing on the World Bank and European Investment Bank client countries: Poland, Georgia, Moldova and Armenia.
The objective is to leverage and enhance the ongoing efforts with the specialized expertise on remote sensing, development of methods, analytic tools and geospatial information systems and, in particular, in view of the data provision from the Sentinel satellites – leverage the new data sources and develop strategies for regional collaborations using exploitation platforms approach and other Big Data analytics.
